Chattagroomer Policies

Before you bring your pet to Chattagroomer, we ask that you read our policies below. Contact us today to set up an appointment.

Cancellation/Late Arrivals

In order to provide your pet the focused attention we are known for, and to keep appointment times as short as possible, we must schedule according to each pet's needs. We understand that unexpected changes happen and we ask that you allow as much notice for changes as possible.


Please provide at least a 48-hour notice prior to canceling your appointment. Less than 48 hours notice will result in a fee to be paid prior to scheduling future appointments. Repeat cancellations may result in required, non-refundable pre-payment for future services, or permanent refusal of service.


Late cancellation fee will be 50% of your scheduled service, while a No-Show fee may be up to 100% of the scheduled service.


Late Arrival: We cannot accommodate your pet without disrupting the speed and quality of service for the other pets in our care, therefore arrival more than 10 minutes past your pet’s appointment time may result in refusal of service, as well as a No-Show fee. We thank you for understanding.


Pick Up: Prompt pick up is vital to preventing stress and fear! Pick up is expected within 30 minutes of notification that your pet is ready. We are happy to send a 20 minute heads-up if requested. Late pick up may result in additional fees. Pick up after 5:30 will be charged at the rate of $1/minute. 

Aggression/Fear

If your pet becomes a danger to him or herself or to our staff, we will contact you immediately. In the case of aggressive or highly stressed animals, your pet may self-harm while awaiting your return. An emergency situation could arise the very first time we see your pet or at any appointment thereafter.


Please understand this risk and make yourself (or someone whom your pet is familiar with) available during the entirety of each appointment. Animals with histories of aggression are taken on a case-by-case basis. 

Matting/Skin Conditions

Neglect or over-washing of your dog’s coat can result in severe matting. This can be a cause for problems before, during, and after grooming such as clipper irritation, hot spots, and infections. Removal of severely matted hair is laborious and highly skilled, therefore additional fees will be charged for this service.


At Chattagroomer, we will not cause pain in order to de-mat your pet under any circumstances. Severely matted pets will be shaved close to the skin, as that is the most humane course of action. Pets who must be closely shaved are susceptible to sunburn year-round; we ask that you please be aware of this and monitor your pet’s sun exposure.


We will always be happy to work with you on growing your pet’s coat back out and keeping it healthy and tangle-free. We like them fluffy, too!


We are happy to use products that will meet your pet’s skin care needs, including veterinarian-provided medicated products. Please make us aware of any skin sensitivities or allergies before or at the time of your pet’s appointment.


If your pet presents at the time of appointment with any sort of severe skin issue, service may be refused in the best interest of your pet as well as our other clients. A late cancellation fee may apply if we were not made aware of the condition prior to scheduling

Senior/Disabled/Obese Pets

Please contact us to discuss your senior or disabled pet's needs before scheduling their appointment. No matter their age, pets must be able to stand for 20-30 minutes at a time and must tolerate water. We can accommodate special needs within reason, but expectations for a perfect groom may have to be lowered. Your pet's safety and comfort is our first priority.


Pets who require special handling may incur additional fees. We may be unable to accommodate your pet’s needs depending on their condition. Additional handling fees may apply. 

Vaccinations/General Health

We require that your pet be in good standing with their veterinarian and vaccinated to their recommendation. We do accept pets who are on alternative vaccine schedules for medical reasons. We ask that you be aware of you pet's vaccination status and risk level.


If your pet seems unwell at any point during their appointment, you will be contacted and expected to collect your pet immediately. Such health concerns can range from extreme dental issues, to seizure, vomiting/diarrhea, etc.


If you cannot be contacted in a case of such emergency, your dog or cat may be transported to the nearest available veterinary hospital where you will be responsible for the cost of your pet’s care.


Flea or tick infestation may result in additional fees or refusal of service. In order to avoid infestations of our shop and/or other client’s dogs or cats, all animals must be on a flea preventative plan and flea-free before entering our business. If a flea infestation is found on your animal during or after checking in for their appointment, service will be refused and you will be expected to collect your pet immediately. A late cancellation fee may apply.

I just moved here from the Chicago suburbs and was looking for a smaller grooming operation for my dogs and cat, as they had only been to one groomer their entire lives. This place was great! Lora and Emily are very friendly and knowledgeable. The service was excellent, and all the animals came out looking adorable and happy!
